Every month of the year is a great time to be at the Bosque! The calendar information below may help you plan your visit according to your interests.

 

January


Climate: Cold nights! Bring warm stuff to sleep in, because the nights get extremely chilly. The days are bright, sunny, and warm. January is a great time to incorporate a trip to the Michoacán coast along with your stay at the Bosque.
January 1: New Year's Day
January 6: Reyes Magos There is a large celebration in a nearby town that includes parties, fireworks and bull riding

February

We do grafting of pears and quince onto manzanillo trees, a local tree with strong roots.

Climate: Nighttime is a bit chilly, but days are sunny and warm. Great weather for camping, though you should bring warm clothing for night.
Near the end of March we have more visitors because of Semana Santa, a holiday week in Mexico that normally occurs in April.
March 20/21: Vernal Equinox
March 23: Bosque Village Birthday (born 2004)

April


Climate: Nighttime is a bit chilly, but days are sunny and warm. Great weather for camping, though you should bring warm clothing for night.
Semana Santa is normally in April, and is a peak time period for us. We usually have many guests during the week of Semana Santa, as well as the weeks prior and following the holiday. If you are interested in a lot of social time and cultural mixing, April is a great month to visit.

May


Climate: This is the warmest month at the Bosque. Great for camping, but still bring layers for the cooler nights.
During May we begin our work to prepare for the rains, which arrive in June.
May 1: Beltane. Global Love Day

June


Climate: The rainy season begins in early to mid-June. Usually mornings and early afternoons are sunny.
Planting madness! Everyone plants seeds and seedlings, trees and other plants.

June 21: Summer Solstice

July


Climate: Rainy! The rainiest season. Usually mornings and early afternoons are sunny.
Lots of mushrooms.

August

Climate: Rainy! Usually mornings and early afternoons are sunny.
Intense mushroom season.

September


Climate: The end of the rainy season. You can expect rain storms, so if your tent is not very water proof this is not a great month to camp.
The wildflowers begin to bloom. Lots of mushrooms.
September 21: Autumn Equinox

October

Climate: The beginning of the dry season. There are occasional rains, though usually no large storms. Nights begin to get colder, though days are still warm and sunny.
The best wildflower season, the Bosque underbrush gets covered in bright colors of flowers.
October 31: Halloween

November


Climate: Cold nights! Bring warm stuff to sleep in, because the nights get extremely chilly. The days are bright, sunny, and warm.
Wildflowers are very prominent in the forest. Orchids begin blooming in the oak trees and large rocks around the Bosque.
Astronomy season begins as the nights are usually very clear.
November 1 and 2: Day of the Dead

December
