Visiting Us

So you're thinking of visiting the Bosque! We welcome you! This page includes a variety of helpful information that you may use while planning your trip. Please read it in its entirety before directing any of your questions to the Bosque staff.  Good luck in your planning and we look forward to your stay.

When you confirm your visit, we will send you a packing list. Please arrive fully prepared. Your preparedness will ensure you enjoy your time here.

Why Visit?

The Bosque is located in a rural area in the beautiful state of Michoacan, Mexico.  The setting and location is perfect for a variety of travelers, including those who are interested in ecotourism and those interested in getting to know the Bosque ecovillage.  There are a variety of activities available in and around the Bosque, and our friendly staff will make you feel welcome as you explore this area.

Occasionally we offer retreats and events that may interest visitors.  The Bosque is a great location for workshops and retreats!  Contact us if you are interested in any of the programs offered.

Lodging:

There are a variety of choices of lodging when you visit the bosque, depending on your needs and what you are willing to spend.  We have a number of camping locations, cabanas, and houses to rent.  Prices vary depending on the reason for your visit (whether that be your interest in membership, your participation in a workshop, or an eco-style vacation!) and the lodging which you choose.

Food and Drink:

Because of our concern about health and nutrition, we provide all guests with food during their stay.  This includes a breakfast, a large dinner in the afternoon, and a light meal at night.  Snacks of fruits and veggies are available all day.  You must be on site during meal times to receive a meal! We do not cook extra food for late arrivals.

Hot jaimaica tea is available in the morning, and guests are welcome to use our lorena stoves to make hot drinks throughout the day (especially at night, when it is sometimes quite cold!).

Caffeine and alcohol are not provided, but guests may bring their own if they'd like.  Please don't bring unhealthy snacks to share.  We try to stay away from hydrogenated oils and high amounts of sugar, and ask our guests to do the same.

Cost:

These prices are subject to change. Our currency conversions may be out of date - to be safe, do a google search on "x pesos to dollars"- this will be an accurate exchange rate.

Prices vary from $200-600 pesos per night (per person), depending on your choice of lodging and reason for visiting (retreats, ecoresort, volunteering, etc).
In USD: Approximately $19-57 dollars per night. If you want to pay in dollars, we have a 10pesos : 1 dollar exchange rate.
In Euros: Approximately €12-36 euros per night.

For day visitors the cost is $100 pesos. This includes a tour and a mid-day meal. We ask that you come in a group of at least 4 people. The minimum charge for any group is $400 pesos.

Traveling to us:

For those flying in, we recommend flying into the Morelia airport for convenience. Other options are Ixtapa, Guadalajara, or Mexico City.
